Description

Two Boys in a Boat by George Percy Jacomb-Hood (1857-1927).

George Percy Jacomb-Hood was born in 1857. A painter and etcher, founder member of the Chelsea Arts Club, living in London but also working in Paris and India. His work included portraits, townscapes and works for the Indian royal family.

This painting from 1887 is probably to be identified with Jacomb-Hood's Off Boscombe, two boys in a boat, sandy shore in the distance, and the coastline in it does resemble the area around Bournemouth; the subject matter in particular is similar to that used by the artist’s close friend, Henry Scott Tuke.
